Highly cited researcher

Special distinction for systems medicine: 18 e:Med scientists are ranked among the world’s most cited researchers in this year’s Clarivate Ranking.

Every year, the Web of Science platform analyzes „highly cited researchers“– the one percent of the world’s most cited scientists in their field. Evaluated were scientists from 21 different disciplines, as well as for the first time also in the category "Cross-field". These are scientists which work interdisciplinary and are cited across several disciplines. In total, 6000 scientists are listed, including 356 researcher from German institutes.
It was evaluated how often a scientist was cited by other colleagues between 2006 and 2016. The divisions of different natural, medical and social sciences were analyzed.

Altogether, 18 of the world’s most cited researchers are involved in e:Med projects. Some of the e:Med scientists are named in the division of clinical medicine, molecular biology and genetics as well as in neuroscience and behavior. However, most of the e:Med researches are frequently cited beyond their field of specialization (Category „cross-field“), which indicates the interdisciplinary nature of systems medicine.
