Metabolic adaptations in glioma progression and therapy resistance

There are molecular mechanisms identified that allow brain tumor cells to adapt their metabolism to the requirements of accelerated cell growth and resistance to treatment. The hypotheses so generated will be tested by means of cell culture and animal models to identify diagnostic markers and disease progression markers, as well as to define target genes for personalized therapies, leading to the "normalization" of cellular metabolism. These aims will be achieved through the application and development of systems biology metabolism models, based on the integration of high-throughput screening data at various levels and complemented with a thorough experimental validation.
